How much does a deep pour kit cover?
UltraClear Deep Pour Epoxy mixes at a 2:1 ratio, 2 parts resin to 1 part hardener, so each 1.5 gallon kit is 1 gallon of resin and 1/2 gallon of hardener. Mixed, a kit fills about 360 cubic inches, which covers 10 square feet at 1/4 inch deep. The deeper the pour, the smaller the area each kit covers.

How much deep pour epoxy do I need?
The results of this calculation are based on a 1.5 gallon kit of deep pour epoxy covering 10 square feet at 1/4" thick. We highly recommend that you pre-seal wood, live-edges, and substrates with UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy (let cure) to prevent air bubbles or foaming prior to final deep pour.
When embedding objects in epoxy such as rocks or pieces of wood, less epoxy would be needed due to the amount of displaced area that is taken up by the embedded objects. We recommend keeping this in mind when considering the results of the deep pour epoxy calculator.
Deep Pour Epoxy vs. Bar & Table Top Epoxy
Deep Pour Epoxy is used to embed objects, fill voids, create flowing rivers of colors with different designs, all while maintaining that crystal clear clarity that’s made epoxy tables so desirable over the years. Deep Pour Epoxy resin should be used when pouring depths of 1/4” up to 2” in a single pour, multiple pours up to 6” thick, and casting projects.
Bar and Table Top Epoxy is designed as a top coat sealer for surfaces of 1/8” to 1/4” maximum depth. While each one is used for different applications, they both work together perfectly for projects like river tables, charcuterie boards, or any surface that has a deep pour epoxy section in it.
The Deep Pour Epoxy cures slightly softer overall than the Bar and Table Top Epoxy, so it needs a top coating layer of protection when it’s going to be used as a surface. This is where the Bar and Table Top Epoxy comes in as it provides the ultimate layer of durability and a glass like finish.
How to Embed Objects in Epoxy
Virtually any object can be encased in our Deep Pour Epoxy. Objects like wood, stones, or anything else that is porous will need to be seal coated first with our Bar and Table Top Epoxy before embedding them into the Deep Pour Epoxy. This is to prevent the objects from releasing tiny air bubbles into the Deep Pour. This same seal coat will also need to be done to any areas of exposed wood that will be in contact with the Deep Pour Epoxy, such as the inside edges of a river table for example. The Deep Pour Epoxy will bond to the seal coat of the Table Top Epoxy, and prevent the wood from releasing air bubbles.

How much epoxy do I need for a river table?
Measure the river, not the whole table: its length, its average width and the depth of your slabs. Multiply them to get cubic inches, then divide by 360, since each 1.5 gallon kit of UltraClear Deep Pour Epoxy fills about 360 cubic inches. For example, a river 6 ft long, 8 inches wide and 1.5 inches deep needs 3 kits, or 4.5 gallons. The calculator above does this math for you and picks the best mix of kit sizes.
How much does a 1.5 gallon deep pour kit cover?
About 10 square feet at 1/4 inch deep, 5 square feet at 1/2 inch, or 2.5 square feet at 1 inch. Larger kits cover proportionally more: a 3 gallon kit covers twice as much, a 6 gallon kit four times as much and a 12 gallon kit eight times as much.
How thick can I pour deep pour epoxy?
Pour UltraClear Deep Pour Epoxy a maximum of 1 inch at a time. For deeper projects, pour in layers and allow 12 hours of cure between layers. The calculator gives you the total amount for the full depth.
Do I need to seal the wood before a deep pour?
Yes. Seal wood, live edges and other porous materials with a thin coat of Bar & Table Top Epoxy and let it cure before the deep pour. This keeps the wood from releasing air bubbles or foam into the pour, and the Deep Pour Epoxy bonds to the cured seal coat.
What is the difference between Deep Pour Epoxy and Bar & Table Top Epoxy?
Deep Pour Epoxy is made for thick pours: river tables, filling voids, embedding objects and casting. Bar & Table Top Epoxy is a top coat poured 1/8 inch at a time for a hard, durable, glass like finish. Deep Pour cures slightly softer, so a surface that will be used, like a river table, should be finished with a flood coat of Bar & Table Top Epoxy.
