For many people, the word "cork" conjures an image of those cone-like objects used to plug wine bottles. These plugs are made with a porous material that is also called "cork".

Cork's primary feature is its impermeability—it doesn't let liquids seep through it—and that's where its relation to epoxy resin begins.

How epoxy resin and corks work together.

In epoxy resin projects, corks are an attractive way to add elegance to your decor. They can be embedded within a layer of epoxy resin, which will seal them beautifully.

Because epoxy is transparent, with a glasslike appearance, and corks are impermeable—thus avoiding the "wet" look that some materials get—they retain their brilliant texture and pleasing colors, becoming an attractive visual feature beneath the resin surface.

In most epoxy cork projects, which are typically—but not always—countertops, table tops, or bar tops, a coat of epoxy resin is applied in order to seal a layer of corks that have been affixed to a substrate (i.e., the primary material the epoxy will be bonding to).

At UltraClear Epoxy, we produce commercial-grade epoxy resins that are easy to use for beginners, but give a peerless, professional-quality finish.

"First time doing epoxy, and it turned out great! It was simple to use as long as you follow the directions. Delivery was fast too!"

An elaborate epoxy cork art piece, using over 3700 corks and made with UltraClear Epoxy.

Extremely Pleased

"Finding a reputable resin brand to finish my first major piece was a big hurdle to get over because I didn’t want to ruin the result of what seemed to be a nearly impossible project to pour resin over (>3,700 wine corks nestled in a poorly hand-built wood frame).

"After much planning and 6 gallons of epoxy resin divided among 3 pours, I finally completed it. I’m very pleased with the end result, and any defects (such as dust and tiny bubbles) are simply due to user error and a lack of patience, not the product itself.

"I fully intend to use this brand for all my future projects, especially since I know what to do now. Many thanks!"

- Brendon Smith (Vancouver, USA)

Great product!!!

"We embarked on our first epoxy project of covering our wine cork counter in our wine room. Needless to say, probably one of the harder things to cover with epoxy.

"The product, incredibly detailed instructions, wonderful tools all lead us to having an absolutely amazing finish. Price is incredible, product even better! Thank you!!!!"

- Kevin Bourque (USA)

An epoxy cork table top made with UltraClear Table Top Epoxy.

IN TWO WORDS, VERY SATISFIED

"My project consisted of epoxy topping a 52" diameter table top I had built a number of years ago. I previously used a product (too many years ago to remember what it was) that created a murky cloud around the corks. My wife had tried to dig out the corks and the hardened topping, but after a small section, it was deemed too labor intensive. Now with time on my hands, I got back to finishing this project and my research determined the ULTRA Clear Epoxy was my best option to do the job. The thorough instructions provided me a comfort level that by sealing over the previous topping, no matter what it was, with an oil-based urethane, it would work. And it did.

"In a single flood coat after applying a Clear Epoxy seal coat over the oil-based urethane, I achieved a 1/8" thick crystal clear finish over the top of the corks. Due to the undulation of the corks, substantial areas are more than 1/8" thick, yet cured perfectly and clearly."

- Michael Vlaovich (Henderson, USA)

An outdoor epoxy cork bar top made with UltraClear Table Top Epoxy.

Great Product

"We built an outdoor bar on our patio and ended up using your epoxy for the top so we could seal our wine corks inside the resin. Our friends and family have all been impressed when they see it; they all think it’s a glass top at first."
