Made a custom metal frame with a live edge piece of cherry wood and used this epoxy to create the bar top surface, it worked flawlessly. The seal coat, or double seal coat, is the most important, then the flood coat works like a charm! I will be doing another project in the near future with this product.
So all in all you can probably get the same stuff for equal or less at your local hardware store as far as the tool kit goes but it was nice being able to open the box at the job and be ready to work. The epoxy is absolutely my favorite to work with and turns out absolutely gorgeous!
Amazing product! Was able to make live edge shelves as well as refinish the top of my cabinets to reseal the top for my bourbon bar . Highly recommend !
This is my largest project to date and it turned out fantastic! I used Ultra Clear Epoxy for Bar & Table Top on my massive home bar. The top bar is an acrylic dirty pour which after cured received a flood coat of the Ultra Clear Epoxy for Bar & Table Top, the lower bar is an acrylic pour with mica powder followed by the Ultra Clear Epoxy after curing. I had used the Ultra Clear Epoxy for Bar & Table Top on a few wood projects in my new home prior (floating wood bathroom sink, mantles, console tables, etc.) with much success and had been very pleased with the product results, so when I decided to do my massive bar, I went with the same epoxy. The product is very consistent and I've been very pleased with the results on all of my home projects!
I followed the directions on the Ultra clear container. Pre warmed the epoxy in 76f water. Used the calculator to pour for 20 square feet as the bar is 17’x14”.
I enclosed the area, used 3ea 250 watt heat lamps and a small heater to get the temp to 75f. The pour went great, I had a porous area at one end that would not stop bleeding air that I will router out to match the Twin Rocks on the beach in front of my house.
The Basic Epoxy Toolkit had everything I didn’t know I needed. The stir sticks are awesome, the holes really were a big help in mixing the resin & hardener, also for scraping the sides of the container. And they’re reusable, bonus!
The heat gun popped every tiny bubble (I somehow got lots of tiny bubbles from mixing but they were on the surface & popped immediately with the heat gun). With 2 speeds it was easy to use the amount of heat I needed.
The mixing buckets were great, although I think I made 6 trips to the store for more of them since I couldn’t reuse those. I’m going to see if you offer just extra buckets this time.
The gloves were helpful but I did go through many more, since I double-gloved every time I poured & spread by hand!
I didn’t use the drill mixer since I was mixing about 16 ounces for each layer but those paddle sticks made it so easy.
I will include some elements of the kit in today’s purchase since I don’t need another heat gun, etc but this was a great kit for beginners. I feel it really contributed to my success. I highly recommend the kit.
